Hi everyone and welcome to April Plank Pilates. I started teaching Pilates about 20 years ago and have helped hundreds of clients reach their health and fitness goals. I created this channel to share with you the Pilates workouts I do myself as well as teach my clients. I hope these videos inspire you to make pilates a part of your daily life! I loved your video / I do have a question I have been teachin mat for years and I find some people even though they regularly come To class still can’t do a full roll up ?? So u know why ? Or any thoughts
Thank you. The roll up requires a lot of core strength but also flexibly in the spine. You can have an extremely strong core, but if you cannot articulate your spine, the rollup is going to be very difficult. I also have several clients who are very strong in their core, but their spine will not allow them to do a rollup. I’m sure you know this but there are lots of modifications to use for the roll up such as the knees bent, using your hands to assist, or a resistance band at the feet, or doing the rollback role back to gain strength and flexibility in the spine. I hope that helps.
@@aprilplankpilates sure does thanks for responding so quickly!!!! I usually have them start with 1/2 roll down seeing if they get a little stronger that way and of course regular core work ! when u mean roll back roll are you talking about open leg rocker? thanks

Thanks for the video. I am a newer teacher. In my all levels classes, I will add on more layers to side lying work, like you've shown here. I also like the change of lying sideways across the carriage with the magic circle holding the head while doing clams. Planking is what I've just introduced to my classes. It is a challenge to many to plank. I would be afraid to suggest a yellow spring for planking, as many may not have that level of control and strength and control. I could go to a blue and yellow, instead of the red we've been using on planks, if someone wants to add on to a more challenging plank. Love the ideas your workout provides to help me in my own practice too.

You can still do bridges. You are lifting and lowering and not lying flat. You can also do bridges with your head and shoulders on the short box with the box at the tower end or against the shoulder blocks or at the foot bar end. Lots of great options for bridges.
